Spirits of Chicago:International Whisky Competition

During this past year's International Whisky Competition, two Chicago-land distilleries were awarded several honors including:

Best American Whisky:

Best Bourbon Whiskey

Best White Whiskey:

I recently had an opportunity to visit the FEW distillery in Evanston a couple of weeks ago and had a chance to talk to distiller and owner Paul Hletko. (Watch for my review of their award winning Rye and Bourbon). FEW (the distillery) is hard to find tucked away in an Evanston alley...but FEW the spirits are much easier to locate. I bought mine at Warehouse Liquors where owner and "The Spirits Connoisseur" AKA Gene, introduced me to FEW products and to Paul. Gene is incredibly knowledgeable about all distillates (especially whiskey) and Warehouse Liquors has a great selection. I haven't had a chance to visit the KOVAL distillery yet, but hope to do so in the near future. DM
